#marchmeetthemaker where it all began!
When I became a stay at home Mum, after having a successful career, I started some hobbies! Gardening, sewing, and jewellery making. Nothing major, but I wanted to create the sort of things I liked.
I started a silversmith course, but was making my learning project ring which seemed to take forever, and I didn’t even like the design. Then one day I saw someone with a stunning necklace- which I loved! I interrogated her (!) and found that she’d made it with silver clay. I hit google and found out as much as I could and found a teacher, and the rest as they say is history! I fell in love with the creativity silver clay brought to my work and have never looked back. Since then I’ve had Certification from PMC and Art Clay, and love to pass on my love and passion to people in need of a creative outlet. I teach for much of my time. Next week I’m teaching 6 days straight!
This photo is in my studio near Skipwith Common. I started in a converted outbuilding at home. I quickly outgrew it, and rented a bigger studio at Skipwith. Less than 8 months later, I outgrew that! I’m now in my wonderful studio on the other side of Skipwith Common. I’ve been there nearly 3 years! I love my work- it often takes over my life, but I feel so lucky to love my job and be able to work around my family. ❤️
